It's the kind of book that makes me want to buy a copy for everyone I know (but I think I'll pare it down to those I know, love, and exchange favorite books with). The writing reminds me on "Running with Scissors" and though parts of the book are quite captivating, it lacks something..sometimes seems to all over the place. Levesque did all the hard work, letting the reader transcend the act of reading until it feels as if it's being read for you, performed for you, with his excellent, easy-to-read storytelling.Immediately engaging, this book already had me from the beginning. Religious cults, corporate cults, insane clients—Francis can't catch a break. If you have your own interpretation of "Hairdresser on Fire," it seems silly to throw it out just because Morrissey says it's actually about trying to make an appointment with a hairdresser.

Levesque did all the hard work, letting the reader transcend the act of reading until it feels as if it's being read for you, performed for you, with his excellent, easy-to-read storytelling.A straaaaange tale of hairdressing angst that successfully depicts that desperate, flailing, cringing, searching way in which some of us (well, actually, everyone I know) inhabits the workaday world. Lyrics to 'Hairdresser on Fire' by Morrissey. Satire, sweetness, and vulnerability. Can you squeeze me I could hear the narrative as a voiceover in an indie film that becomes a cult classic.
