This position is in the exempt class and the appointee serves at the pleasure of the District Attorney.Minimum of a high school diploma; minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a detective or plainclothes investigator while employed as a police officer by a state, county, city, town or village police department within New York State, whose principal duties included the investigation of organized crime or gang activities such as graffiti, gambling, pornography, prostitution, sex trafficking, money laundering, extortion and counterfeiting, narcotics trafficking and violent felonies.Such experience must include three (3) or more of the following: physical and electronic surveillance; undercover role-playing; New York State authorized wiretap investigations where the applicant was an affiant on more than three (3) wire investigations; cultivator and handler in use of more than ten (10) informants; provided testimony at trials, hearings and grand juries; obtained New York State issued search and arrest warrants.Suffolk County residency is required.
