It's not that I don't like those elements in the books I read, I just don't want them to be the be-all and end-all of the story. I desperately needed a Weiner novel to redeem my faith in her as an author.

They were real and ornery and outspoken. Her name is Emily Stevens, she's from Los Angeles and was really hoping to do her internship in Beverly Hills. Others have mentioned cookie-cutter, and I worry that wThis was one of those books that could have been elevated to the next level with a bit more fleshing out of the characters (specifically the heroine). At first it was very confusing the way the different characters told their story - not only in the present, but during other time periods. I think this is accurate in that women like to be confronted with novels in which women are strong and rise to challenges, but are more realistic that the challenges they face are likely to be things like paying rent and fiI was pondering what kinds of books men read that women don't, in the effort to come up with a less derogatory term than Chick-Lit for this book.

Multiple 1st-person POVs make it difficult to keep up with whose head you're in and that's a little pet peeve of mine. I am the creator and maker behind Then Came June.
Really, the story doesnt begin until 60% of the way through the book, and even then it falls flat - the twist is unexpected, but it seems she had to have a quick, tidy ending to keep the book short enough. I didn't like any of the women and found many aspects of the book unbelieveable and of course it was totally predictable.Pathetic women all having to do with babies. I loved the reality of the relationship that neither Wyatt or Emily would say what they really wanted out of the relationship either out of fear or assuming what the other one wanted. There was a lot that could have been done with this book, but it failed to satisfy me.I hated this book. I haven’t read Weiner’s other novels but I watched and loved I expected more from this book. But the story is good, the characters are well developed - for the most part, with the exception of one, I really liked all of them and cared about all of their stories (the exception being Bettina, a girl of extreme privelage, who, frankly just seemed like a rich snob). Jerry Ragovoy was a successful producer who had Garnet Mimms and Howard Tate among his credits. Three hundred and sixty four days and she'll be on her way to Beverly Hills, the next step of The Plan.Emily has her entire life mapped out, finish her Veterinary intern ship and get a well paying job in LA so she can take care of her father and sister. Each chapter is written by a different character in the book. India, as Bettina suspected is not what she seems, has had a difficult past. But hey, this is the start of summer. Is it amazing? I thought I'd be a Weiner fan for a long time, but have started to lose interest in the past few books, maybe growing out of her writing, maybe a declining quality in the books - which ever. And lastly, there is Annie, the mother of two young boys, always scrabbling for money who decides to become a surrogate to get money to improve her family's life. This trip to Sunshine, Idaho we meet the new intern who will be at Belle Haven Animal Center for the next year. I have enjoyed the other books I have read by this author, but this one was definitely not a favorite.Hooray! Bettina discovers while her father has had India sign a prenuptial agreement, if they have a child, she will become exceedingly wealthy. But the story is good, the characters are well developed - for the most part, with the exception of one, I really liked all of them and cared about all of their stories (the exception being Bettina, aHooray! Shalvis's continuing use of the term "beat" instead of "moment" "second" or "instant" is a bit jarring.
